Through the McNair/SROP program, Albert learned about the research process. He is studying Karl Polanyi's manifestations of its double movement in Ghana and Chile. His research looks at how structural adjustment policies drastically altered the social fabric of these countries. Albert's research is mainly conducted by using secondary sources at the library and involves examining various books, scholarly articles, and primary data from a variety of sources.

Albert says that his "research illuminates questions that are inherent in the development process around the world. By examining capitalism and democracy in these countries, it can help other countries better understand how they can structure policies that benefit the larger society and not just a select few."

Albert recommends that all undergraduates get involved in a research project."It helped him to become a better writer, construct better designed arguments, and appreciate the complexity of issues. He added, "Above all, conducting research has drastically altered the way in which I view the world."
