Improve Your Laboratory Skills
The LBS290A section 101 Science Laboratory Research Essentials is a 2 credit course being offered during the first summer session. Students will develop the laboratory skills necessary to be a valued contributor in a chemical and/or biological research or analytical laboratory. Students will gain experience in the proper use of essential laboratory instruments and equipment such as pH meters, micropipettes, and spectrometer. The class will discuss experiment design and review the various concentration units and calculations used in a laboratory. The course will cover techniques used in chemistry (spectroscopy, synthesis, purification etc), microbiology (aseptic techniques, microscope, etc.) and molecular biology (PCR, DNA preparation and engineering, protein preparation, etc.) This is the course for you, if you want to learn new techniques or to brush up on your skills.
